Whether you come in June, July or August, there are 3 beaches in Mallorca that we assure you that you can’t miss for anything in the world. Yes, it is true that there is practically no “ugly” beach in the largest of the Balearic Islands (or any of them), but in one trip we are going to make the sea complicated to visit them all. So, in order to make your organization much easier during your next holidays, and make sure you don’t leave without visiting the top beaches and coves, in today’s post we’ll reveal three that will make you fall in love the most. Let’s go!
Beaches in Mallorca that you can’t miss
Formentor Beach, located very close to the popular Port de Pollença, is a must-see on the island of Mallorca. In fact, it is a Blue Flag beach of approximately 1 km long. The beach is completely surrounded by mountains, pinewoods, is of fine sand and has beautiful shallow waters. It should be noted that, due to its beauty and views, in summer is usually crowded, so we recommend going there early in the morning to catch the best place. Although, if you plan to enjoy a holiday to the island at another time of year, March is a great option to enjoy it and its scenery.
Take note that Formentor Beach is divided into three different areas, Platjamar, La Veranda and L’Espigó (all marvellous). Ah! And the most curious thing of all is that, probably, during your stay on the beach, you will be able to spot small wild goats strolling around the area. Don’t forget to take protection with you and try to find out about the weather in that particular area on the days you plan to visit. If you go, you want to choose the best day and without too much wind! Without a doubt, it is one of the 3 beaches in Majorca that you cannot miss.
Cala Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis
Sa Calobra is not a beach per se, but an incredible cove that, we promise you, will leave you amazed. It is one of the most popular and iconic coves on the island, as well as the spectacular way to get there: winding roads that take us along a route full of dreamlike views. That is why it is also common to see many cyclists or motorcycle lovers doing this route to Sa Calobra.
Sa Calobra has two coves: Sa Calobra and the Torrent de Pareis, which can be reached through a coquettish tunnel that crosses the mountain. They are located in the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range, in the northwest of Mallorca, specifically in the municipality of Escorca. This is a cove formed between two splendid rocky cliffs. Don’t also hesitate to take your camera with you, because you will want to take many, many photos surrounded by this privileged environment.
Of course, the waters here are wonderful, clean and of a beautiful turquoise blue. Take note that there are hardly any services around here, nor is there an offer of water sports. It is a more “hidden” and private cove.
Es Trenc Beach
Another beach in Mallorca not to be missed is that of Es Trenc, a beach that is already well known. In other words, it is one of the most popular in the whole island of Mallorca, and not for less. In fact, it is one of the clear favourites among the vast majority of local residents, be they from other island towns or from the city of Palma itself.
The beach is quite large, with more than 6 km long, stretching from the town of Sa Ràpita to the Colònia de Sant Jordi. As could not be otherwise, it is one of the most iconic, and is one of the most beautiful sandbanks on the island that resists even without large hotel buildings or very commercial around. In fact, since 2017 Es Trenc is also a Natural Park, a protected area, so among other things, the beautiful dune area can only be appreciated with the view, you can not walk on that area!
Platja d’Es Trenc is an incredible beach of fine white sand, with small rocky areas here and there. Its waters are calm and of a hypnotic, turquoise colour, which captivates everyone who sets foot on the beach.
Even so, it is worth noting that in the summer season, especially in the months of July and August, there is a greater influx of people. For this reason, it is best to get up early and arrive at the beach around 9:00 or 9:30 in the morning to be able to take the best places and plant our umbrella where we like.
Before finishing, comment that another magnificent highlight of Es Trenc Beach are the old bunkers that you will find scattered throughout its entire length. These are bunkers that today have been restored, painted white and decorated with beautiful phrases from a poem by Mallorcan Miquel Costa i Llobera, “Cala Gentil”.
